Whenever 4 out of 5 members of my family love a recipe, I consider it a hit! This was one of those. (Only the 7 year old held out, and the only part he didn't like was the kielbasa, so I consider that a partial win with him.)
Ingredients:
1 box (16 oz) of uncooked pasta
1.5 lb. fully cooked kielbasa, sliced into pieces about 1/4" in thickness
2 tsp minced garlic
2 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1 1/2 c. milk
1 bag frozen broccoli florets
Directions:
1. Cook pasta according to the directions on the box.
2. In a large skillet, melt the butter. Once melted, add the garlic and kielbasa.
3. Combine cornstarch and milk in small bowl until smooth and then slowly add that to the skillet, bring it to a boil, stirring constantly. Once boiling, reduce heat to low.
4. Add broccoli to the skillet mixture and heat thoroughly.
5. Drain pasta, and return to pot. Pour skillet mixture in with noodles, and toss until combined, then serve.
Tips/Options:
- This freezes and reheats very well, so you could make it ahead of time.
- I have used a dried garlic blend in place of the minced garlic.
- You could substitute different meats and vegetables for a different take on the same recipe. Try it with chicken and peas, perhaps.
