Local Park Spotlight: Sequiota Park

Caves, Playgrounds, Hikes, Ponds

By Lesley Blunk March 2, 2022

It’s FINALLY spring - it’s time to get outside!

This Local Park Spotlight is highlighting one of the most loved local parks in Springfield: Sequiota Park, located on 28 acres in the Galloway area of Southeast Springfield.

We love this park because there is a variety of things to do and see at this park:

  • Explore a cave - bring a flashlight or use the flashlight on your phone (the caves are blocked off though to protect the bat population)
  • Watch the ducks, geese, and swans swim in the ponds
  • Play at one of the two playground areas (one is more targeted to smaller kids)
  • Hike one of many nature trails (there are some steep areas, so make sure you have good shoes for that)
  • Stroll around the ponds along the stroller friendly paths
  • Bike, walk, or run on  the Ozark Greenways Trail at the Galloway Creek Greenway access at the park
  • Have a picnic at a covered pavillion or on a blanket on the grass (there is a lot of space for this)
  • Expend some energy running in the wide open grassy spaces

The park can be crowded on a nice spring day, but it is large enough that you can find something to do. This will become a go-to park for you and your family, if it isn’t already!
