Fun Programs with Springfield-Greene County Library District & Christian County Library

Springfield-Greene County Library District and Christian County Library have some incredible FREE activities this month to celebrate the Winter season and Holidays! From crafts to storytimes, movie nights, and open houses there is something for everyone! Find Your Family Fun at the Library!


Christmas Crafts: Festive Things to Make and Do
Friday, Dec. 6, 2:30 – 3:30 pm  Clever Branch 
Delightful festive holiday craft for the entire family? Yes, please.

Santa’s Workshop
Friday, Dec. 6, 2—5 pm and Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m.—5 pm Ozark Branch 
Santa’s workshop is at the library and children of all ages are invited to shop for gifts. Santa and Ms. Clause will be there for pictures and snacks.
Hosted by the Friends of the Library.

Reindeer Games
Friday, Dec. 6, 4-5:30 pm for grades 5-12  Fair Grove Branch 
Warm-up with some reindeer games.

Holiday Open House: An Enchanted Woodland

Winter Pajama Storytime
 Monday, Dec. 9, 6:30 pm for infants-age 6 Republic Branch 
Wear your pajamas and cuddle up with a stuffed animal as you listen to stories and sing songs perfect for the season and bedtime.

Raise the Roof with Rudolph!
Wednesday, Dec. 11, 4-6 pm for grades K-4 Fair Grove Branch 
Watch the classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," rated TV-G, and let your holiday creativity shine as you decorate your own gingerbread house. House and materials will be provided; seating is limited. Registration starts November 27; call 417-759-2637.

Countdown to Christmas Storytime

Holiday Open House

Help us ring in the holiday season with activities and refreshments. The Ash Grove Christmas Parade will pass right in front of the library, so join us for some holiday cheer!

Springfield Regional Art Council's Free Art Day
Saturday, Dec. 14, 10 am -1 pm for all ages Park Central Branch 
Stop by and warm up before the Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade with craft projects and cookies. Materials will be provided.

Grumpy Christmas
Saturday, Dec. 14, 11 am - 2 pm for all ages Fair Grove Branch 
Put your seasonal stress in check with a movie featuring a holiday scrooge. We'll watch the crowd choice from a trio of family-friendly classics, rated G or PG, make a melted snowman cookie and enjoy a hot chocolate. Materials will be provided.

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” Storytime
Saturday, Dec. 14, 2:30—4 pm  Ozark Branch
All the whos in Whoville at storytime give a shout, don’t be a Grinch and miss out. Decorate your own cookies while enjoying this holiday classic.

Nutcracker Ballet Food Drive
Saturday, Dec. 14, 2—3 pm  Nixa Branch
Enjoy a shortened performance of The Nutcracker Ballet and help the community at the same time!

"Star Wars" Winter Celebration

Brr… it’s cold outside. Warmup with a day of winter activities.

Hugo Kringle

Storyteller and musician Mike Anderson portrays Hugo Kringle, Kris Kringle's brother as he shares holiday songs and hilarious stories about growing up with the boy who would become Santa Claus. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

"Elf" Interactive 
 Saturday, Dec. 21, 2 pm for grades K-5 Library Center Auditorium 
Sing and have fun with Buddy the Elf during this interactive showing of "Elf," rated PG. Crafts and activities included.

The Great Snowman Battle
Saturday, Dec. 28, 1 – 3 p.m.  Ozark Branch
Hurry! Build the fort to protect your snowman from snowball attacks.
