From 1923 to 2023, Dickerson Park Zoo has made its historical mark on the hearts of Springfield residents. It’s an adventure of discovery where friends, families and students of all ages can get outdoors and explore the beauty of the Ozarks while seeing and learning about animals around the world.
100 years ago, land from Jerome Dickerson was purchased by the city of Springfield in order to relocate and establish the zoo you see today. Originally moved from Phelps Grove Park, the zoo is now home to over 500 animals.
Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the zoo has seen significant changes and improvements over the years; from the creation of the current elephant yard to the redesigned South America boardwalk, and now the current reconstruction of the conservation station.
In celebration of 100 years of conservation dedication, join Dickerson Park Zoo for a birthday celebration on July 15, 2023. The 100th Birthday Party is open to all! - Adults, kids, Friends of the Zoo members, and non-members.
PLUS, everyone is a kid for the day! That’s right, admission is just $12.00 at the gate for adults and kids (no other coupons or discounts apply). You don’t want to miss out on this day of fabZOOlous fun!
Meet a magician, play in a bounce house (or maybe two), get your face painted, and more.
Dickerson Park Zoo is where animals and people connect. Make your mark in Springfield history by joining in for this once in a lifetime historical celebration event.
